Frequently Asked Questions

Find instant answers regarding parts compatibility, ordering, and RC technical configurations.

Chassis & Parts Compatibility
1. How do I know if an upgrade part will fit my specific RC car?

Precision fitment is critical. We recommend referencing the original manufacturer exploded view diagram for your exact vehicle model to cross-verify factory part numbers. You can also match your vehicle scale (e.g., 1/10, 1/8) and chassis code against the compatibility designations listed in our product specs.

2. What is the difference between "RTR" and a "Kit"?

RTR (Ready-to-Run): The vehicle comes completely assembled out of the factory box. It usually includes the motor, ESC, radio transmitter, and servo. (Note: Batteries and a charger may still need to be bought separately).

Kit: The vehicle arrives completely disassembled in parts. You build the chassis yourself, and it generally requires you to choose and install your own motor, ESC, steering servo, receiver, and battery setup.

3. Can I use aftermarket option parts from brands like RPM or Hot Racing on my stock build?

Yes, premium aftermarket brands design option parts specifically to replace weak or broken stock plastic components. Always check our product title or description tags to ensure the aftermarket part explicitly lists your factory vehicle model.

4. What does vehicle scale mean (e.g., 1/10 vs 1/24)?

Scale dictates the physical size of the RC vehicle relative to a real-world vehicle. A 1/10 scale vehicle is one-tenth the size of a real car. 1/5 scale models are massive, heavy-duty gas or high-voltage rigs, while 1/24 scale models are micro rigs designed for indoor or desk-sized crawling courses.

5. How do I find clear or pre-painted replacement bodies that fit my chassis?

You must verify the vehicle's wheelbase and width dimensions. Standard 1/10 short course trucks, short wheelbase crawlers, and on-road drifters all use different body mounting points. Check our body category parameters before purchasing.

Motors, ESCs & Batteries
6. What is the difference between a "Brushed" and a "Brushless" motor system?

Brushed Motors: Budget-friendly, reliable, and great for beginners or slow rock crawlers. They utilize physical carbon brushes that wear out over long periods.

Brushless Motors: Highly efficient, run cooler, require zero internal contact maintenance, and provide vastly superior top-end speed and raw torque. They require a brushless-specific Electronic Speed Controller (ESC).

7. What does the "KV" rating on a brushless motor indicate?

KV stands for RPM per volt. For example, a 3000KV motor supplied with 1 Volt will spin at 3,000 RPM. Higher KV motors spin faster but produce less torque (ideal for on-road speed runs), while lower KV motors turn slower but have immense torque (ideal for heavy bashers and crawlers).

8. What do the terms "2S", "3S", and "4S" mean regarding LiPo batteries?

The "S" indicates the number of battery cells connected in a series circuit. Each nominal LiPo cell holds 3.7 Volts:

  • 2S: 2 Cells = 7.4 Volts
  • 3S: 3 Cells = 11.1 Volts
  • 4S: 4 Cells = 14.8 Volts

More cells translate to vastly higher voltage, yielding explosive speeds—provided your ESC is officially rated to handle it.

9. What is the "C" rating on a Lithium Polymer power pack?

The "C" rating measures the maximum safe continuous discharge capability of the pack. A higher C rating means the battery can deliver its stored power to the ESC faster without overheating, preventing voltage drops during hard acceleration bursts.

10. Can I connect different battery plugs together using adapter leads?

While adapter leads work for light power loads, we strongly advise using matching, clean-soldered connections (like XT60, Deans/T-Plug, or EC5) for high-voltage brushless systems. Adapters add electrical resistance and can melt under intense racing currents.

Shipping & HAZMAT Regulations
11. Why can't my order of LiPo batteries be shipped via Next-Day Air?

Federal transportation laws classify high-capacity Lithium Polymer cells as Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) due to aviation cargo fire safety rules. They are strictly restricted from air shipping and must travel via surface ground transit networks.

12. Do you ship your RC products internationally?

We currently only process transactions and fulfill shipments within the contiguous United States. We do not support international freight logistics at this time.

13. Can you ship Nitro fuel or aerosol polycarbonate paints to Alaska or Hawaii?

No. Liquid nitro fuel, pressurized shock fluids, and chemical spray paints face strict overseas freight safety restrictions. We can only deliver chemical compounds and LiPo cells within the lower 48 states via domestic ground couriers.

14. How long does standard ground shipping take to deliver my package?

Once processed at our warehouse facility (1–2 business days), standard domestic ground shipments typically take 3–7 business days to reach your workbench, depending on your state destination.

Returns, Exchanges & Warranties
15. What is your policy on returning an RC car that has already been run outside?

To qualify for a standard refund, all items must remain 100% unused, unrun, and sealed inside their original manufacturer packaging. Once an RC car has been driven on dirt, tarmac, or pavement, it cannot be returned under any circumstances.

16. Can I return a LiPo battery if I opened the plastic seal but did not plug it in?

No. Due to battery chemistry volatility and tracking regulations, we cannot accept returns on any battery item once the original factory tamper-evident manufacturing seal or outer clear wrap has been broken or altered.

17. My motor or ESC burned out on my second run. Is this covered under warranty?

Component burnout after operation is handled directly by major manufacturer warranty claims (e.g., Traxxas, Horizon Hobby). Contact our help desk at sales@apexrc.shop, and we will provide your necessary invoice records and guide you through lodging a claim with the factory techs.

18. What should I do if my shipment arrives damaged or missing a gear component?

Please inspect your cargo box immediately upon arrival. You must submit a damage report along with digital photos of the damaged box and product package to sales@apexrc.shop within 48 hours of delivery validation.

Ordering & General Operations
19. Can I change my delivery address after my order is submitted?

Because our fulfillment center processes orders rapidly to minimize transit delay, address change requests must be sent via email within 30 minutes of checking out. We cannot alter routing once a tracking label has been scanned by the courier.

20. Where is Apex RC headquartered, and can I pick up my parts locally?

Our corporate registration is anchored out of Sheridan, WY. We operate strictly as an online e-commerce fulfillment engine to streamline inventory costs, meaning we do not maintain a physical storefront for customer walk-ins or local product pick-ups.
